We all want to try and eat a little healthier (at least it sounds good anyway) without giving up on taste, texture, flavor and all things FRIED. Well my friends, this OVEN FRIED CHICKEN is going to satisfy all of that and more right down to the last bite.

OVEN FRIED CHICKEN is down right delicious. This chicken has it all. It soars with a crispness that you never thought was possible when truly NOT frying it. Leave the melted lard alone and marinade this bird in a bath of buttermilk and hot sauce. It will make every succulent bite tender on the inside while quenching your need for southern comfort on the outside.

Now I know nothing can truly compare to real “fried” chicken, but I beg to differ that this Oven Fried Chicken and spicy creamy dipping sauce will be the talk of the next dinner party, cookout, or church potluck. You will see the smiling faces of everyone as they bite into this Oven Fried Chicken and lick the crumbs off from their “grease-less” lips. The panko crust seasoned with just the right amount of spice cooks to perfection, while the buttermilk and hot sauce tenderize, to make a mesmerizing flavor all mixed into one. Now the Kernel new what he was doing when he made his fried chicken, but this Oven Fried Chicken is no cock and bull story, it is the real deal.  xoxo

  1. 2-cups buttermilk
  2. 1/4-cup Frank's Red Hot wing sauce
  3. 1lb-chicken (I used chicken tenders)
  4. 2-cups panko bread crumbs
  5. 1-teaspoon garlic salt
  6. 1-teaspoon paprika
  7. 1/2-teaspoon sea salt
  8. 1-teaspoon seasoned pepper
  9. 1/2-teaspoon cayenne
  10. cooking spray
Dipping Sauce
  1. 1/3-cup veganaise
  2. 1/4-cup reduced sugar ketchup
  3. 1-teaspoon hot chili sauce ( I love sriracha)
Instructions
  1. Combine the buttermilk and hot sauce in a gallon size ziplock bag. Add the chicken, seal bag, and turn to coat. Placed sealed bag in refrigerator and marinate for at least 1 hour and up to 12.
  2. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  3. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  4. In large bowl combine panko crumbs and spices.
  5. Working one piece of chicken at a time, remove chicken from marinade and dip into panko mix to thoroughly coat.
  6. Place chicken on prepared sheet and lightly coat chicken with cooking spray. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked all the way through.
